Individual Resident Producer Requirements
To qualify for an Arizona resident insurance producer license, the applicant must satisfy all the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Maintain a physical location where business records will be maintained pertaining to transactions under the license.
- Pass the appropriate licensing examination
- Complete Form L-152
- File an application and submit a set of fingerprints

Exam Requirements
- Passing Score: A score of 70% or higher.
- Exam Proctor Requirements: Arizona does not require a proctored exam.
Certificate of Completion
- The Arizona Department of Insurance does not require a PLE certificate of completion.
State Reporting Requirements
- The Arizona Department of Insurance does not require PLE course completions to be reported.
License Application Process
1. Register for the fingerprinting: processing service at the same time you register for your required exam. You must schedule your appointment and pay the test registration fee and Prometric’s fingerprint processing fee online at www.prometric.com/arizona/insurance or by calling 800.853.5448 before arriving at the test center.

3. Materials needed to bring to the Site: Applicants who wish to obtain an Arizona insurance license will need to forward the materials listed below to the Arizona Department of Insurance.
-Bring Government Issued ID: government-issued (e.g., driver’s license, state- issued identification card or military identification card).

Exam Format:
- The passing score required on each exam is 70%.
- Prometric notifies the Department of Insurance your exam results within 2 business days.
***Important: You are limited to four attempts to pass an exam for a particular line of authority (LOA) within a 1-year period. After a fourth unsuccessful attempt, you must wait one year from the date of the last attempt to retake the exam.
4. Apply for State license: Complete online registration at www.nipr.com/ or download license application at https://insurance.az.gov/producers mail it to Arizona Department of insurance.
Nonresident Producer Requirements License Application Process

Applicants who wish to obtain a nonresident insurance license in Arizona will need to forward the materials listed below to the Arizona Department of Insurance.
Nonresidents are not required to submit fingerprints or to fulfill the License Eligibility Requirement. They must be licensed in good standing in their home state.
New Resident Producer Requirements
If you held a resident insurance license in another state and are relocating to Arizona, you must submit a license application to the Department within 90 days after canceling the resident license in your former state to avoid having to take an Arizona insurance exam. Your application must include a “clearance letter” issued by the insurance department in your former state. The letter must specify the following:
- The date when your license from the former state was canceled, expired or converted to a nonresident status
- The line of authority for which you were licensed in the other state
- That you were licensed in good standing at the time the license expired, canceled, or converted to a nonresident status

Fingerprinting Requirements
If you are an Arizona resident, a nonresident relocating to Arizona, or a nonresident adjuster whose home state does not license adjusters, you must submit fingerprints with your license application (if you have not done so in the past year). If you are adding a line of authority to an existing Arizona insurance license, you are not required to submit fingerprints.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) use the fingerprints to conduct a criminal history background check. Additional detail on how to satisfy the fingerprint requirement are provided in the Arizona Insurance Licensing Candidate Handbook. Fingerprints must be applied to Form FD-258 by a professional fingerprinting service. Fees charged by fingerprinting service providers may vary.

Arizona Insurance Tests
Here are 5 basic steps to get you ready for your Arizona Insurance Exam. If you already know when/where you want to take your test go to Step 2 “Create or Login to Your Account."
1. Check Appointment Availability
You can review dates, times and locations and then decide on the testing appointment that is most convenient for you before you register and pay.
2. Create or Login to Your Account
Before scheduling your test, please create an account or log into your existing account. To create an account, you must:
- Select “AZ” as your state
- Select “Insurance” as the business type
- Enter your eligibility number (SSN)
Once you are set up and logged into your account, you are able to schedule your test. Just enter your eligibility number (Social Security Number/SSN) and the first four letters of your last name. PLEASE NOTE: you must have an account and select AZ’s insurance test in order to schedule online.
